Monday’s attack was the first assault with a weapon at the school since the 1999 shootings that left 12 students, a teacher and the two teen gunmen dead.

The girl was being held at a juvenile jail on suspicion of second-degree assault and felony menacing. She appeared in court with her parents and a public defender where she was ordered held without bail until her next hearing Friday, Jefferson County district attorney spokeswoman Pam Russell said. Prosecutors have until then to decide what charges to file.

Her name hasn’t been released because she is a juvenile.

The victims were expected to recover fully from their injuries, sheriff’s officials said. They were taken to a hospital and later released.

Investigators haven’t ruled out the possibility that the hammer was brought into the school, but it doesn’t appear it was, Jefferson County sheriff’s spokeswoman Jacki Kelley said.

If the hammer was on campus, it’s not clear whether it was taken from a classroom or from a maintenance shop, Kelley said. No one has reported a missing hammer, she said.

Authorities said earlier that the 14-year-old targeted a 15-year-old girl in a hallway leading to bathrooms. Kelley said investigators are making progress toward determining a motive, but it won’t be made public because the case involves a juvenile.

Aaron Flowers,Discount Juicy Couture tracksuits, 16, told Denver television stations that the 15-year-old girl was struck in the hand. He said he also was hit in the hand and ribs while trying to grab the hammer from the attacker, after another friend pushed the attacker down.

Judges have a range of options for sentencing juveniles who are convicted of crimes, including confinement, probation and placement in a residential treatment center, Russell said.

The longest a juvenile can be incarcerated is two years, she said.

Three paintings from Elizabeth Taylor’s personal art collection have been sold for £13.7m at an auction in London.

The combined total of the Vincent Van Gogh, Edgar Degas and Claude Pissarro artworks fetched more than double the £6.2m estimate at the Christie’s sale.

Van Gogh’s Vue de l’asile et de la Chapelle de Saint-Remy (1889), fetched £10.1m, the highest price.

Taylor’s father originally bought the piece on her behalf in 1963 for £92,000.

It had been hung on the star’s living room wall in her Bel Air, California home until her death in March.

The other two paintings, a self-portrait by Degas and a large-scale landscape by Pissarro – called Pommiers a Eragny – sold for £713,250 and £2.9m respectively.

All three artworks featured in the global tour of highlights from the Collection of Elizabeth Taylor, which was displayed in both New York and London last autumn.

A further sale will offer 35 works from the late film star’s fine art collection on Wednesday.

In December,wholesale Frankie Morello, a sale of Taylor’s personal items such as jewellery, furniture and memorabilia, fetched $150m (£94m).

The Oscar-winning actress died in Los Angeles last year at the age of 79.

The venue has been completely reinterpreted by architect Peter Marino and features art by Georg Dokoupil and an elliptical staircase paying tribute to baroque Italian architecture overlooking the vast space. “In our small little world, its a small little tribute to people who are very special to an industry that is very special,” Visconti di Modrone said in an interview of his passion project. While Vuitton helped to fund the project, dont expect to see the fashion houses legendary monogram popping up everywhere. “Its important not to flash a brand of consumers faces. People arent stupid. This is a very subtle and more refined way of doing it,” Visconti di Modrone explained. He added: “Its very rare to go into a relationship with a company who will financially support your project and not meddle at all in it. Its quite fantastic.”

So fantastic that Visconti di Modrone and his production team delved into the project before they could secure distribution. “It all began as a spur of the moment passion project. We were focused on that and are just starting to work on the distribution now. We didnt have the time before we were too taken by all of the excitement,” the producer explained.

Handmade Cinemas team is hoping that some star power added by the films narrator Franco-Italian actress Mastroianni will add more global appeal. “Chiara was the directors idea. To them, it was a natural way of tying in the two countries. She came on because naturally she was very excited about participating in a project about people shes known since she was little and she visited her father on set,” he said of the offspring of Catherine Deneuve and Marcello Mastroianni.

The film focuses on the small artisans responsible for work on epic titles like Cleopatra, Ben Hur, The Name of the Rose and Gangs of New York. “Its somewhat of a natural progression. Louis Vuitton has been a patron of the arts for the long time, so its not surprising to me that theyd invest in this,” Visconti di Modrone said.

Louis Vuitton has also begun a three-year partnership with Italys top film school the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia to encourage the development of new talents and discover future filmmakers, set designers and costumers. LVMH will continue to expand its empire in Italy with another store in Venice later this year.
